A little about me
I've been work in publishing industry for over ten years working with various content management systems and on various types of materials. I've been lucky to work for one of the largest independent academic publishers as well as one of the largest legal publishers in the world. I'm currently an Online Editor, responsible for the online and CD publication of a number of legal sources. The main tasks include managing the reporting processes between a number of departments, thorough online checking process including site functionality review, handle enquiries from subscribers and other customers and supporting editorial department with various tools and functions.
I recently completed a 6 month secondment to the Content Systems department as a Content Analyst which included; managing the helpdesk portal and assisting with a wide range of queries from internal and external customers, managing the conversion of the PDF and RTF files to XML with external partners for a number of high profile titles and providing eMedia services inclusion a video for a conference demonstrating the services offered by the department and an interactive game based on tax.
Before I joined Lexis Nexis Butterworths I was employed by SAGE Publications Ltd. as the Senior Electronic Projects Executive. I managed the electronic publishing programme for the UK office with the help of an assistant. As well as their extensive journal collection, they also have an electronic books programme. The position was heavily centred around advising the department on electronic policy and products as well as being a company wide recourse for electronic books and journals. In an effort to assist interdepartmental communications, I was also required to act as a liaison between the Editorial, Marketing, Production and our IT department.

Design Software
Adobe CS4 suite including Flash (with AS 2.0 and 3.0), After Effects, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier and Soundbooth

3D Software
Maya, 3D Studio Max and Blender.

Programming and Web Languages
Experience with Visual Basic for Applications (with Word and Excel), HTML, XML and SGML.

Work Experience
Online Editor (June 2007 – present)
My time at LexisNexis included a 6 month secondment to the Content Systems department as a Content Analyst which recently completed. Tasks included;

As an Online Editor I’m responsible for the content management for the online and CD publication of a number of Legal sources. Task's include;
- Assisting on XML related queries and managing error reports between a number of departments - Thorough online checking process including site functionality review (on site search engine, email functions etc.).
- Assist in determining content and functionality enhancements.
- Handle enquiries from customers and supporting editorial department with various tools and functions.
 
Senior Electronic Projects Executive (Feb 2000 – June 2007)
Overall management of the UK online publication program of electronic journals and books and related projects. Tasks included;
- Design and project managing the customer websites and other web based projects.
Manage and develop additional web related projects including the Books Companion Website programme.
- Acting as an inter-departmental liaison between the IT department, Editorial, Production and Marketing departments and a central point of contact (internally and externally) for all electronic related issues.
- Manage and develop the Onscreen Editing programme including tutoring classes of up to 6-8 students.
- Picking up the exceptional tasks that fell between departmental responsibilities like PDF-to-HTML conversion for the Probation Journal for a small number of partially sighted subscribers.
- Managing and developing the departmental intranet site and training materials.
- Managing an assistant (Electronic Projects Administrator).
